Explaining Coding to my Daughter

Cover image

As a newly minted father, I often wondering how I would explain to my 2 month old daughter when she gets older about the work I do in software development. Children have the potential to understand even the most complicated of subjects when the explanation is brought down to their level and delivered in bite sized chunks. This blog is a letter to my little girl and an attempt to explain programming to her and a reference point for concepts for explaining programming simply. Even though my daughter may not be old enough to read, I still think believe that programming fundamentals will be enduring. The target audience in mind are an audience of 8+ years old. The focus would be on concepts and the big picture instead of implementation since technology will have changed by the time my daughter would be old enough to understand the subject. Let’s dive in.
